Rehearse Launches an AI Practice Partner for the Workplace Conversations People Dread

Rehearse, a new app for iPhone and Android, is built around a simple idea: nobody is bad at their job — they are new at this part of it. The app lets people practise the conversations they dread out loud, with an AI character who plays the other side for real, and hands back feedback they can act on seconds after they hang up.

The other side pushes back

At the heart of Rehearse is a live conversation. Each scenario comes with a character — Jordan, a dismissive senior manager, for instance — with a voice, a temperament and goals of their own. Users talk, out loud, and the character answers in real time and stays in character: get vague and they press, be clear and fair and they soften. In face-to-face mode a lip-synced avatar reacts while the user speaks; voice mode offers the same conversation at a fifth of the cost. It is a conversation, not a quiz.

Feedback from a rubric you can see

Seconds after a rehearsal ends, Rehearse reads the transcript back and scores it on four skills — clarity, empathy, assertiveness and structure — each out of five, against a rubric the user can see. The feedback quotes the exact moments that earned or lost points: two things that landed and one thing to try next. Scores are consistent by design, so two people who say the same things get the same result, and the app keeps a confidence level and a streak that climb with every session.

Three minutes, start to finish

A rehearsal is built to fit between meetings. Setup takes a minute — your name, your role and who you lead, so the characters address you properly and the scenarios fit your world. Sign-in is a four-digit emailed code; there is no password. Pick a scenario, tap Start practice, say the first line out loud. Most sessions are over in three minutes, and the feedback is waiting before you have put the phone down.

Fifteen scenarios, or your own

The library covers the moments people actually lose sleep over: saying no to a senior manager, declining extra work when overloaded, giving a first piece of critical feedback, pushing back on an unrealistic deadline, aligning two teams who disagree, asking for a raise. Each is rated realistic, tough or easy. Users can also build their own scenario in a sentence, choose how hard the other side pushes back, and rehearse conversations that have nothing to do with work at all.

Built for iPhone and Android

Rehearse ships as one app on both platforms, sharing a single account so history, credits and streaks follow the user from phone to phone. It supports iPhone on iOS 15 and later and Android 12 and later, with light and dark themes and reduced-motion support built in. Every screen — from the practice library to the live call and the feedback report — was designed to be used one-handed, in a corridor, a minute before the real conversation.

Private by design

Practising something you are nervous about only works if it stays private. During a rehearsal the user’s voice is streamed to AI providers so the character can respond in real time; it is never stored as audio. Transcripts and feedback are private to the account, are never used to train models and are never sold, and the whole account can be deleted from inside the app. There is no password to leak: sign-in is a one-time code sent to the user’s email.
